In a stunning transformation, the Masonic Temple in Evanston has been reborn as The Temple Lofts -- an adaptive reuse project that blends historical charm with contemporary living.
Given its iconic status, we aimed to keep as much of the landmark building's architectural integrity as possible during the renovation. On the building's exterior, most of the existing stone facade and columns remained, refreshed with all new custom windows. We repurposed the original stone medallions removed for window openings as decorative features around the front staircases and refurbished the original front entry doors. Stepping into the historic interior lobby, you'll find the original dazzling terrazzo floors carefully restored, the original trimwork and gold leaf detailing updated with a new paint scheme, and two of the original lobby chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, all incorporated into the new lobby lounge design with art deco nods to the original architecture, thoughtfully curated by local Evanston firm Maria Topper Design.
The apartments feature high ceilings and tons of natural light with contemporary finishes, including slim-shaker cabinetry in a mix of creamy white and deep green, white quartz counters, stainless steel appliances, black light and plumbing fixtures, and overall neutral palette, complete with other modern amenities like keyless entry, smart thermostats, and in-unit front-loading electric washer and dryers. A diverse range of layouts, including studios, 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments with 1-2 bathrooms, with a wide range of square footage, along with the many loft-style or duplex-level apartments offer a truly unique living experience not often found in urban rental apartments. Residents can enjoy a host of onsite amenities, including multiple seating areas in the lobby lounge, a fully-equipped fitness room, a business center with private offices and conference room, on-site bike storage, and an elevator to make moving in a breeze. Our general contractor for the project - H&S Remodeling - is working hard to bring the final vision to life and we couldn't be more excited to lease this property!
